The Fort Smith Police Department arrested a man on Thursday (July 3) on suspicion of robbing a gas station with a screwdriver, among other thefts, according to a news release on Friday (July 4).

Hayden S. Hamel, 22, was arrested Thursday afternoon on an outstanding felony theft warrant. That warrant stemmed from an investigation regarding a theft from C&H Tire Company located at 8821 Rogers Ave. in Fort Smith, the release states.

After being interviewed by detectives, Hamel was also arrested in connection with two robberies, according to the release.

In total, Hamel was thought to be involved in two robberies and one commercial burglary. The first robbery also took place overnight at Flash Market located in the 4600 block of Rogers Avenue on June 8, the release states.

The second robbery happened overnight on June 26 at an EZ-Mart located in the 8400 block of U.S. 271 S. Hamel is thought to be the suspect that robbed that store with a screwdriver, according to a prior news release.

The commercial burglary charge stemmed from an earlier burglary at the C&H Tire Company where an undetermined amount of cash was taken from the business, according to the release.

Hamel was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center.
