Two people were hospitalized Tuesday night in a two-vehicle wreck in Fayetteville.

The crash at the intersection of Joyce Boulevard and College Avenue slowed traffic just after 9 p.m. A black pickup truck’s front end was smashed in, while a white passenger car also sustained damage.

At least one of those hospitalized suffered serious injuries. Emergency responders said the other patient was “less critical”.

Several police cars, ambulances and fire trucks responded to the scene. The area was still mostly blocked off at 10 p.m.

A street sign indicating Joyce Boulevard coming up laid on the grass next to College Avenue, just north of the intersection. It is unclear whether it was the crash that displaced the sign.

Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved or their medical status.

That is by far the most dangerous intersection in NWA. How many have tried coming off the freeway needing to merge over to go east on Joyce? It’s a nightmare. The new flyover helps, but better planning needs to be thought out for the rest of the northbound traffic on College vs northbound traffic coming off the 49 interchange trying to go east on Joyce.
