Obama Challenges Congress To Fix Border Crisis

CBS

CBS News – President Barack Obama said Wednesday Congress has the ability to act immediately to address the wave of unaccompanied minors coming over the border from Mexico into the U.S.

Obama spoke in Dallas after meeting Wednesday with Gov. Rick Perry and other officials about the unaccompanied minors entering the country by the thousands.

Obama said Perry raised four areas of concern and made suggestions. Obama said he was willing to consider dispatching National Guard troops to the border, as Perry suggested, but warned it would only be a temporary solution.

He said that if Perry and Republicans want the problem to be fixed in the longer term, they should press Congress to move quickly to fund his request for $3.7 billion to handle the influx of undocumented children crossing into the United States from Mexico.

“There’s nothing the governor indicated that he’d like to see that I have a philosophical objection to,” Obama said after meeting with Perry and other local leaders.

Obama said Perry raised four areas of concern dealing with the number of border patrol agents, the positioning of those agents, the different policies for immigrants coming from Mexico versus Central America and the functioning of the U.S. immigrant judicial system.

Obama said if Congress passes his emergency funding request, the government will have to resources to take some of the steps Perry recommended. He said the problem is fixable if lawmakers are interested in solving it, but that if the preference is for politics, it won’t be solved.

“Is Congress prepared to act to put the resources to get this done? Are folks more interested in politics or in solving problems?” he said.

Obama has resisted growing calls from both Democrats and Republicans to make his first trip to the border since May 2011.

Asked why he had not visited the border on Wednesday’s trip, the president replied: “This isn’t theater. This is a problem. I’m not interested in photo ops, I’m interested in solving a problem.”

He said Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson had visited several times and “there’s nothing that has taken place down there that I am not intimately aware of.”

Obama said Border Patrol agents were being very effective in apprehending unaccompanied children and other migrants who cross the border illegally, but the problem was how to care for them while their cases are processed.

He appealed to parents not to send their children on the long, perilous journey to the United States — warning that even if the children do make it across the border, they will likely be shipped back.

“Their parents need to know this is an incredibly dangerous situation,” Obama said. “I’ve asked parents not to put their children in this position.”

Ok so this con artist wants you to believe Congress needs to fix the “crisis” he planned and implemented? This liar is so full of it. I’m telling you people this Chicago thug is public enemy number one. He is intentionally flooding his country with illegals to build a permanent welfare state. Your country is being hijacked! WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

The 3.7 billion is to pay for bringing more in and permanently relocating all of these illegals and their yet-to-arrive family members into the US. Do not fall for Obama’s jive. Remember this is the phony who told you you could keep your doctor!

The truth is not reported by the liberal propagandists at 5News. Thankfully, there are other resources available so Americans can find the truth. Internet search for Drudge Report, Breitbart, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, Fox Nation, Daily Caller, CNS News. Don’t let liars con you! Get informed!

Tom and Elephas are the same person, proven by entering exact comments at the same time. The other two comments are suspect. Beware of commenters who have to pretend they are someone else to get a majority of public opinion swayed their way.

Please read Matthew 18:10 or better yet, the entire chapter. God bless.

Sara get real, we have laws in place and people are tired of the huge influx of illegals to our country. Before you go quoting the bible realize these people are breaking the law, and that there is a legal way to obtain citizenship. Do I feel sorry for these people of course but the answer is for the people that desire change in their country to stay in that country and effect change not to flee. As Americans we are very willing to help people but what we are not willing to do is have our country invaded by people that come here over burden our systems and take jobs in a time when legal citizens are having trouble providing for their families.

These are children, not adults. Bush 43 enacted this updated law on December 23, 2008. He was out of office on January 20, 2009. Think about this for a minute. Contemplate his reasoning.

Now the current President has turned to the ‘do nothing’ House and Senate to take care of this situation. Let us all sit and watch what happens. I would bet the President has a signing statement when he sees NOTHING being done without barrels of pork attached to the bills.

Remember the Republicans in November 2014 and 2016 for BLOCKING appropriate care of our country. Shutting down the government (2013) cost we the taxpayers 24 billion and suing the President (by John Boehner) will cost approximately the same. Wasted dollars anyone?

“Congress can fix the situation” as long as they do what BO and his gang of racist thugs and thieves want. The majority of the country know exactly where the problems destroying the US come from, 1600 PA avenue, unless of course, he is wasting taxpayer money golfing, fund raising, or touring the world. Despite the welfare brood mares, parasites, and others who feed at the public trough at taxpayer expense, we can turn away from the third-world disaster BO is bringing us to. Let your Representative and Senators know how you feel, keep track of their votes, and cast yours accordingly.

The fix is simple but I have to laugh at a politician that says they are not interested in photo ops. This is the same administration that sued Arizona because they said it was the Federal Governments job to police the border, so Mr Obama do your job. Why is it always a matter of more money, typical liberal BS throw more money at the problem,

Speaking of Arizona, Governor Jan Brewer has happily embraced the Affordable Care Act and her citizens are now getting the much needed care they so deserved.
Remember the photo op on the tarmac with the President? Well Mrs. Jan has changed her tune and is singing a new song.

This is not a right-left problem despite the recent whining of many right-wing hypocrites. President Reagan granted the largest amnesty in history to illegal aliens in the 80′s.

For a fraction of the lives and money thrown away by Bush in his search for non-existent weapons of mass destruction in Iraq we could have sealed our border and it would have been the most logical step toward securing the country in the wake of 9/11.
