Thursday night was the calm before the storm that is the Southwest Elite 7-on-7 Showcase. That is if you consider 800 high school football players calm.

Players and coaches from 32 schools, spanning six states, converged on the Embassy Suites in Rogers to gear up for Friday's opening day and got to hear from a former Razorback great and NFL pro bowler in the process.

"You have to have big time aspirations," Bobby Joe Edmunds said. "I call it an alien flow. You have to have that alien mentality to be able to do things that most people can't do. If God has given you a blessing with any talent whatever it may be, then you do have an opportunity to do it but your mindset has to be such where you can't be denied from your dreams."

Round robin play begins Friday morning. For a complete schedule of the opening day click here.
