More than 1,000 households were left without power Thursday afternoon before it was restored about an hour later. Officials said an electric substation in Springdale was likely struck by lightning, spurring the outage.

The outage started at 4:07 p.m. and left 1,054 local households without electricity, according to Ozarks Electric Cooperative. The company also reported another 139 customers without power east of Fayetteville.

Power was restored to the Springdale customers by 5:25 p.m.

The outage affected neighborhoods from County Line Road in northern Springdale to Elm Springs Road, and from Cynthia Avenue in western Springdale to White Road on the east side, according to the Ozarks Electric website.

A spokeswoman for Ozarks Electric said one of the circuits faulted in the electric substation in western Springdale. She said the outage was probably weather-related, adding the substation was likely struck by lightning.
