Police say they have arrested the man who fled from a Springdale hit-and-run crash that sent a woman to the hospital with a head contusion and abdominal brusing.

Harris McNeill, 43, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident with an injury. McNeill, of Dardanelle, was arrested by Arkansas State Police and booked virtually into the Washington County Detention Center, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was released from custody the same day on a $3,500 bond, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He has a July 28 court date.

A warrant for McNeill’s arrest states he was the driver of a white Isuzu Rodeo that rear-ended a Chevy Monte Carlo during a Feb. 9 crash on Sunset Avenue in Springdale. The collision forced the Monte Carlo forward into a Ford Flex. The Monte Carlo’s driver was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center with a head contusion and bruising to her abdomen, the arrest warrant affidavit states.

Springdale police said the Isuzu’s driver fled from the three-vehicle wreck, leaving behind part of the front grill. Later that day, someone called police to say a vehicle came “flying in” to the Heritage Inn parking lot with front-end damage and the airbags deployed, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

Police responded to the Heritage Inn and found the vehicle, which was then towed into the custody of a local impound lot. Police determined the vehicle was the same one that fled the three-vehicle wreck earlier in the day.

Officers viewed the Heritage Inn’s surveillance video and found footage of McNeill and the white Isuzu. Police could not located McNeill, and an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest the next month, according to the affidavit.

Police located and arrested McNeill four months later.
