CBS News – LeBron James is coming home.

The superstar free agent has told Sports Illustrated that he is returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers after spending four seasons playing for the Miami Heat.

“My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball,” James wrote in a first-person essay published on SI.com. “I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now.”

James said he “always believed that I’d return to Cleveland and finish my career there.”

James, a native of Akron, Ohio, spent seven seasons with the Cavaliers before bolting for South Beach in 2010 – a decision that broke the hearts of many Cleveland fans and enraged team owner Dan Gilbert.

“When I left Cleveland, I was on a mission. I was seeking championships, and we won two. But Miami already knew that feeling,” James wrote. “Our city hasn’t had that feeling in a long, long, long time. My goal is still to win as many titles as possible, no question. But what’s most important for me is bringing one trophy back to Northeast Ohio.”
