The 13th annual Bordertown Bash wrapped up in Fort Smith on Saturday (July 12).
The event was held at the Riverfront Park with 35 teams participating this year.
The competition was judged in chicken, ribs, brisket and pork in thirty minute increments. In addition, judges looked at taste, tenderness, and appearance. All participants had to use wood and charcoal to cook over.
The Fort Smith BBQ Society said they gave away $8,000 worth of cash to the top twelve winners. The winners were also given trophies.
The grand champion was Caveman Cuisine out of Missouri. They won $1,400 in prize money.
Sizzlin’ Bones BBQ was the reserved winner and took home $900.
All proceeds from the event will go to local police forces and kids programs, along with Operation BBQ Relief.
