College student Christian Mynard said she was expelled from her Christian university for marrying another woman.
She said she received a letter from her school Southwestern Christian University the day after she and her wife returned from their honeymoon. Mynard said the letter read that due to recent events she would no longer be attending SCU.
“I’ve never seen anything like that before,” Mynard said, “I was utterly in shock.”
Southwestern Christian University does have a lifestyle covenant they expect students to live by. Mynard said it doesn’t matter, and her expulsion is discrimination.
“It compares gay marriage to being able to smoke a cigarette in a restaurant, and I felt like it was a very degrading letter,” She said.
SCU has not commented on the situation.
