"We've got a lot of associates making sure that the counters are clean, everything is pulled forward and everything is looking nice," said Store Manager Scott McMillan,  who started his Walmart career in 2005 as an assistant manager trainee.

"This town has been fantastic to me and my associates since we've been here," McMillan said.

The store will have an assortment of merchandise.  According to a release, the store will also offer Walmart's free Site to Store program, which enables customers to choose from nearly a million additional items that can be ordered on Walmart.com and picked up at the Pea Ridge store for free.

Allison Smith has lived in Pea Ridge for eight years and lives less than a mile from the new store.

"If we just need something late at night, we can just run up here, down the street instead of a 30 minute round trip just to get one thing," she said.

Mayor Jackie Crabtree said the town has grown tremendously.

"In our last census, Pea Ridge grew by 104%," Crabtree said. "So we are getting the bleed over from Bentonville and Rogers. The more population we see, the more business we see."

The new Pea Ridge store is part of Walmart's plan to open an additional 270 to 300 small-format locations this year, the release states.

The grand-opening celebration will feature presentations of $6,000 in grants from Walmart to local community groups, including Arkansas Dragons, Beta Alpha Chapter of Epsilon and Sigma Alpha International, City of Pea Ridge Parks Department, Pea Ridge Area Ministerial Alliance, Pea Ridge Bright Futures, Pea Ridge Community Focus Foundation, Pea Ridge Fire Department, Pea Ridge Police Department and Episcopal Church of Pea Ridge, according to the release.
