New Van Buren Fire Station Scheduled To Open

VAN BUREN (KFSM) – A new Van Buren fire station is scheduled to open on July 25 at 10 a.m., according to a news release Wednesday (July 16).

City officials, as well as, state and local representatives will gather to officially open the new station, the release states.

The new fire station will be located at 1234 E. Northridge Dr., and it cost $2.25 million to construct, according to the release.

The building is a 10,310 square foot facility, and it will provide increased fire protection and response for the northeast section of the city, the release states.

The city of Van Buren hired nine additional firemen to operate the station. A new pumper truck was also purchased for the facility, according to the release.

In total, the project took a year to complete and was funded partially by the special election investment initiative from July 10, 2012.
