FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – A Fayetteville man is behind bars after police say he held a woman at gunpoint, then stuck the barrel of a rifle in his own mouth.

Frank Burggraf, 56, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated robbery. He remained Wednesday in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office website.

A woman called police Tuesday night and told them she and Burggraf earlier in the night were at Bear’s Place Bar and Grill in Fayetteville, where he had been drinking. When the two returned home, Burggraf began to complain about money, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

The report states at one point, the suspect pointed a loaded rifle at the woman at close range inside the house. Burggraf pointed the gun at the woman’s face and told her, “I want money,” before turning the gun on himself and placing the barrel in his mouth, according to the preliminary report.

The woman then left the home and called police. Officers responded to the home and collected statements before arrested Burggraf and transporting him to jail.

The report does not state the relationship between Burggraf and the woman.
