OZARK (KFSM) – A man was hospitalized after he fell 50 feet off a cliff at the Ozark National Forest on Sunday(July 20) afternoon.
A 52-year-old man reportedly got too close to a cliff and slipped and fell about 50 feet to the bottom of a ravine, said Randy Boren, Franklin County EMS Coordinator. He was transported Mercy Hospital in Ozark with non-life threatening injuries.
The man and his wife were walking around in the national forest looking for wild berries, Boren said.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m., Boren said.
Franklin County EMS, Barnes and Watalula fire departments and Franklin County Search and Rescue all responded to the accident.
The name of the victim has not been released.
