WYOMING, MICH. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Police in Wyoming have released details in last week’s murder suicide at a news conference Monday.
They continue to search for answers as to why 31-year-old Brady Oestrike killed 25-year-old Charles Oppenneer and his 18-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Brooke Slocum.
Newschannel 3 talked with friends and roommates who say the pregnant teenager would use Craigslist to find men looking for sex, but it was her boyfriend who forced her to do it. Her roommate recalled conversations. McKenzi Hallo says she was told “just the basics, that Charlie took her and that she wasn’t proud of doing it but she had to do what she had to do.”
Detectives found Oppenneer’s body in a Wyoming park Wednesday. Thursday night, they identified 31-year-old Brady Oestrike as the main suspect. After a short chase, they say he shot himself. Eighteen-year-old Brooke Slocum’s body was found in the trunk.
Police completed their processing of the home Sunday night. Investigators were on the scene since Thursday.
The next phase will be processing the evidence found inside the home.
400 items were taken from the home as evidence. The items included restraints that were used to hold Brook for a time before she was murdered and numerous electronic devices.
Other media reports state police said Oppenneer’s body was found without his head.
