BELLA VISTA (KFSM) – The NWA Razorback Club Celebrity Golf Scramble was an excellent time to relax for the Arkansas football coaches. They better get their fun in now, because starting August 4th, it’s back to work.
Expectations are also a lot higher for the coaching staff in year two.
“Last year they didn’t know what to expect out of me,” Randy Shannon, Arkansas Senior Associate Head Coach said. “I didn’t know what to expect out of them. But now they know the expectations of myself, coach Bielema and the defensive staff, and they know what to prepare for.”
“The fact of knowing your roster that much better,” Bret Bielema, Arkansas Head Coach said. “The fact of know who they are, where they’re at, where they’ve come from. Knowing a little bit about their family goes a long way.”
Bielema says being better acquainted with the staff and players is what will help the most on the field.
“In our program when we care and we care about one another, and a core part of our winning will be based on that, thats a huge part of it,” Bielema said.
Every coach told us, they’ve noticed a difference in their players, and the excitement level is that much higher.
“I see market improvements throughout our offense,” Jim Chaney, Arkansas Offensive Coordinator said. “I mean, I see kids bigger an stronger now than they’ve ever been. I’m excited about every bit of it.”
“The big test is coming here when we report to training camp,” Robb Smith, Defensive Coordinator said. “The summer has been great. I think our guys have done a great job of trying to improve and get better.”
They’ll find out just how much better when fall camp begins.
