SPRINGDALE (KFSM) - The Antique Festival of the Ozarks wrapped up its first day in Northwest Arkansas on Saturday.

“I’ve seen a lot of cool things this weekend,” said Gail Kinney, an organizer with Antique Festival Of The Ozarks.

More than 3,500 shoppers are expected to attend the event.

“We’re on track to have this as our most highly attended show in this market so far,” Kinney said.

Vendors from 12 different states have a wide variety of antiques for sale at this show.

“[There is] a lot of wonderful jewelry out here, antique pottery, there’s very unique paintings,”  Kinney said.

Some things were seen as more unique than others to some at the event.

“A repurposed television, an old tube TV at the front, that has a really nice Lone Ranger painting on it,” Kinney said.

And, no matter what one loves to have, event organizers say they’ll have it for sale at the event.

“Anybody who collects should be able to find something here,” Kinney said.

While some are at the event to make a living, and others are there to find a new piece for their collection, event organizers say there’s a bigger meaning to these shows than just purchasing items.

“It is an opportunity to learn more about the past, learn more about history, for families to bond.” Kinney said. “Grandparents can come out here with their children, their grandchildren, and kind of bridge that gap and use these things here to relate stories about their own past. It's just a near bonding experience.”

The event will pick back up Sunday for its final day, starting at 11 A.M., and closing at 5 P.M., all at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center.
