FORT SMITH (KFSM) - The City of Fort Smith Utility Department will hold a meeting Tuesday night (July 29) to discuss the management of the Lee Creek watershed.

Lance McAvoy, Environmental Quality Manager, asks that anyone who lives, plays, or works in that watershed to attend the meeting.

This meeting will help to educate residents on what a watershed is and how it works. McAvoy says keeping the water clean, will keep the cost of drinking water down.

"If we can keep our two reservoirs with high quality water we don`t have to use as many chemicals to treat it and that keeps water rates down so it keeps money in our pockets," said McAvoy

The meeting for the Lee Creek watershed will be held on July 29 at the Van Buren Public Library at 6:00 p.m.

Another meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Lake Fort Smith State Park on Wednesday (July 30) to discuss the Frog Bayou watershed.
