EUREKA SPRINGS (KFSM) – The city of Eureka Springs is scheduled to host the first “mass gay wedding reception in the Bible belt” on Aug. 2, according to a news release.

The reception is billed as a “Married To Equality” event, and it’s open to the public, according to the release. The goal of the reception is to “honor the more than 500 same-sex couples married in Arkansas in May after a state judge invalidated the state’s anti-gay marriage amendment,” the release states.

The reception is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Farm to Table Fresh restaurant at 179 N. Main St., according to the release.

More than 40 restaurants gift shops, hotels, galleries and retailers have contributed goods or services to the reception, the release states.

The Eureka Springs city council issued a public invitation to the reception by resolution on July 14, according to the release.

Fantastic! It is right and fitting these marriage-equality pioneers should be so acknowledged and honored. They stand on the leading edge of the civil rights issue of our time and actually contribute something to the on-going effort to attain a “more perfect union.” Congratulations to those couples and to Eureka Springs, AR.

A good example of why myself and other people I know won’t go there any longer. We just got tired of the constant badgering from these people. When are they going to learn that making too much noise is a bad thing for your cause?
    Sorry Ucreepa Springs

Whats funny is hotels there have a regular website and then a “hidden” website showing all the g*y events.
