SPRINGDALE (KFSM) - The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Services is offering free dental care to kids without insurance in Northwest Arkansas. They offer dental exams, oral hygiene, digital x-rays, extractions and other services.

They have been stationed at the Jones Center in Springdale since Monday (July 28). They'll stay until Wednesday (July 30) and be back Aug. 4-7. Their appointments are filled for the next couple of weeks but they plan to visit school throughout the region.

There are certain requirements kids need to meet to receive free dental services. Kids have to be 18 year old or younger, haven't seen a dentist in the last year and they can’t have private health insurance.

Rebecca Perez-Rosa, patient information assistant, said seeing a dentist can improve grades.

"Some patients can’t take tests at school because they can’t focus because they are in pain," Perez-Rosa said. "Then we can see them, we can treat them and they are a lot better."

"Even parents, children, school nurses and teachers tell us it’s a different kid,” she said.

The employees at the mobile unit work for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

This mobile dental unit is sponsored by the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Tyson Foods and Delta Dental.
