Former Arkansas Razorback and current Detroit Tigers left hander Drew Smyly was traded just before the trade deadline on Thursday to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Smyly was part of a three team trade that saw Rays’ ace David Price get sent to Detriot while outfielder Austin Jackson is headed to the Seattle Mariners.
Smyly was 6-9 in 17 starts for the Tigers this season and has an ERA of 3.77 with 87 strikeouts.
Price, one of the most coveted pitchers at the trade deadline, was 11-8 for Tampa with a 3.11 ERA with 189 strikeouts compared to just 23 walks.
