SALLISAW (KFSM) Tax-free weekend in Oklahoma kicked off Friday (Aug. 1).

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission website, school supplies are not tax free only clothes are included on the list.

"We have all the merchandise out, we are stocked and fully staffed," said Stage store manager Misty Blalock.

Blalock said individual items more than $100 are not tax-exempt this weekend.

Gary Cate and his family use this weekend to save on back to school shopping.

"It helps out a lot knowing you're not going to spend all this extra money on the taxes that come with a big purchase," Cate said.

Cate said he would like to see school supplies added to the list.

"Oh yes it would help everybody a lot it really would because you're going to spend a bunch if you've got a few kids going to school,” he said. “You're going to spend a couple hundred on school supplies itself."

Tax-free weekend wraps up on Sunday in Oklahoma.

Items such as jewelry, handbags and luggage are not part of tax free weekend.
