Standoff Ends After Man Pulls Knife In Bar, Police Say
A police standoff ended Saturday morning in Springdale after a suspect pulled a knife in a local bar and locked himself in a motel room, according to Springdale police. The suspect later surrendered to officers.
After the standoff ended, Victor Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and fleeing from police, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Eyewitnesses at Fatty Hackers Sports Pub told police Hernandez, 39, got into an altercation and pulled a knife in the early Saturday morning hours. A later report to police stated Hernandez had a gun, according to the Springdale Police Department.
Officers arrived at the bar shortly after 1:30 a.m., at which time police said Hernandez had locked himself inside a motel room at the Executive Inn, the motel that houses Fatty Hackers.
SWAT teams and Springdale police’s Crisis Negotiation Team were unable to contact Hernandez. Just after 5 a.m., the door to the motel room opened and Hernandez surrendered without incident to authorities, police said.
There were no serious injuries reported, and police said the investigation is ongoing.
