CHARLESTON (KFSM) – Ty Storey made his commitment prior to the 2013 season. The Charleston quarterback made that commitment official today.
Storey, a senior this fall, signed a financial aid agreement with Arkansas to play for the Razorbacks. Storey signed the agreement now so he could enroll at the school for the spring semester in January.
“I am pleased to announce that Ty will be joining the Razorbacks after he finishes his prolific high school career,” Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said. “As one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, he starts our signing class in a strong way and he realizes the significance of student-athletes from our state playing for Arkansas. Ty is a blue collar player who grew up with a strong work ethic instilled in him by his family. His attitude and approach to the game fit perfectly with the philosophies we operate with as a program.”
Storey is ranked as a top-10 pro style quarterback on all major recruiting websites.
“He’s been a Hog since day one,” Charleston coach Greg Kendrick said. “That’s where he wanted to go and it’s the right fit for him. Growing up a Hog fan, his dad playing there, it all fits.”
Storey led Charleston to the 3A state championship after going 15-0 last season. The quarterback threw for 4,421 yards and 52 touchdowns last season. Storey has thrown for 8,701 yards and 101 touchdowns while at Charleston.
“Wanting to see that program succeed again has been a huge part of it,” Kendrick said of the decision to go to Arkansas. “The coaching staff up there has been a really big part and he really likes (offensive coordinator Jim) Chaney.”
Charleston starts fall practice for the 2014 season on Wednesday.
