FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Businesses can breathe a sigh of relief after 48 hours of busy stores and tax free savings comes to a close.
The tax free weekend started in Arkansas at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and wrapped up at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
Owners of local boutiques Maude and Belle said they appreciated the big sales weekend.
"When tax free weekend comes around we have a double in sales, it helps us definitely like throughout the year and throughout the coming years as more people hear about it and know about it," Sales associate Meredith Sokora said.
Shopper Rebecca Tate said she took advantage of having ten percent off her school supplies.
"I wanted to make sure I had notebooks and pencils and all those basic supplies for kids who might not be able to bring them in," The teacher said, "I was also looking for some stuff for me for my use like post-its and pens," Tate said.
The tax free weekend in Arkansas included clothing items under $100, cosmetics and accesories under $50, and all school supplies.
