CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) - A Crawford County man is dead after a shooting over the weekend. Right now, investigators say no one is facing charges in the shooting.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 2) near Cedarville, said Capt. Andrew McIntosh, Cedarville Police Department.

Authorities have identified the victim as 45-year-old Brian Fisher.

The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He later died from his injuries, McIntosh said.

Police have not released the name of the alleged shooter. They said the man has been questioned, but has not been arrested.

The victim was shot with a 22 caliber rifle, McIntosh said.

Montie Fisher is Brian Fisher's father. He said his son had an ongoing feud with the shooter for the past eight years.

"The alleged shooter had made several comments that one day he was going to kill Brian," he said. "And I guess he did. I hope he does not get away with it. "

So far, there have been no arrests in the case. Investigators said they believe the shooter acted in self defense.

"It was not self defense, he was murdered," Fisher said. "Whether or not it can ever be proved, that's what it was. I  just hope that our legal system works and justice is served."

The father said his son did have some mental problems, but never considered him a threat to anyone.

"He was mentally disabled, but it's not a violent mental disorder," Fisher said. "He would never hurt anything."

Authorities are releasing little information about the shooting, saying it is still under investigation.
