ROGERS (KFSM) – The Rogers Police Department busted a suspected car thief on Aug. 3 at 1:45 a.m., authorities say.
Joshua Christian Harris, 18, of Lowell was stopped by an officer in the 1800 block of West Walnut Street in Rogers, according to a probable cause report.
The officer noted that Harris was “intently focused” on him before he pulled him over in the report.
The officer also discovered that the license plate on the vehicle was reported stolen out of Springdale, the report states.
Harris had a juvenile female with him in the passenger seat, and he was frisked, leading the officer to find a marijuana grinder, according to the report.
Multiple officers arrived to assist the situation, and Harris told the officers that he was responsible for everything illegal inside the car. A smoking pipe with the smell of burnt marijuana was also found, the report states.
After a VIN check, the car, which was a Nissan, was also discovered to be stolen from Rogers. The officer asked Harris where he got the car, and he said he stole it from The Greens on Blossom Way on July 30, according to the report.
He also said he had been “car hopping” or breaking into cars. He found the Nissan unlocked, and the keys were in the glove box. He said he took the license plate from Springdale but could not remember specifically where, the report states.
The officer found a pill canister inside the vehicle, as well as, two debit cards with two different names on them, according to the report.
Police spoke with the juvenile female, and she claimed she didn’t know the car was stolen. Her mother said the same thing, the report states.
Harris has no arrest record as an adult, according to the report.
He was booked into the Benton County Detention Center and faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by receiving and theft of property, according to the jail’s intake report.
