SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – One person was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon in a rollover wreck on Interstate 49 in Springdale, according to emergency responders.
Arkansas State Police officers and emergency crews responded to the scene around 5 p.m. in reference to a report of a multiple-vehicle crash. A sport utility vehicle wrecked and rolled over. One of the people inside was transported to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Springdale Fire Department.
Several vehicles pulled away under their own power. The SUV was the only vehicle that needed to be towed, emergency crews said.
Police said the crash blocked traffic during rush hour in the northbound lanes just south of Exit 72, which leads traffic to and from U.S. 412 in Springdale.
As of 5:30 p.m., vehicles were halted in the northbound lanes from Exit 72 to Exit 69, which connects traffic to Don Tyson Parkway. With the scene partially cleared, traffic picked back up around 5:40 p.m. By 6 p.m., traffic was moving consistently, eyewitnesses said.
