SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – An arson suspect was arrested Tuesday after authorities said he lit his company truck on fire in a possible insurance scam.

Danny Mounce, 50, was arrested on suspicion of felony arson. He was released Tuesday from the Washington County Detention Center on $75,000 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Washington County deputies on Dec. 1 found a 2001 Dodge pickup truck burned on Hickory Flat Road. Investigators determined the vehicles was worth $8,000 and belonged to Next Generation Holding LLC, a Chicago-based investment banking company.

Mounce, of Springdale, was listed as a driver on a self-insured insurance policy for the truck, according to an arrest warrant affidavit issued in Washington County Circuit Court. Authorities were later able to link Mounce to the fire by matching his DNA to a cigarette butt found at the burned vehicle, the affidavit states.

Mounce told deputies the truck was stolen and that he did not burn it. Authorities finished their DNA analysis of the cigarette butt in March and issued a warrant for Mounce’s arrest late last month. He was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in, Mounce’s attorney told 5NEWS.
