BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) – The Benton County Fair kicks off Tuesday for a four-day event that will include carnival rides, pageants and farm animal competitions.
Crews set up much of the fairgrounds over the weekend, with food preparation, flower and animal competition entries being accepted Monday.
The gates to the fairgrounds are set to open Tuesday at 1 p.m. The opening day include animal weigh-ins, goat shows, beauty pageants and several other events. The fair’s amusement carnival is set to open at 5 p.m.
The events continue throughout the week, lasting through Saturday.

9 a.m. – Judging in home economics, crafts, 4-H, fine arts
8 a.m. to 10 a.m. – Food preparation entries accepted
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Flower department entries accepted
4 p.m. to 9 p.m. – Animals accepted into goat, sheep, pig and cow competitions
8 a.m. to noon – Animal weigh-ins for lambs and market hogs; animals accepted into pig, dairy, beef and rabbit competitions
10 a.m. – Dairy goat show
10 a.m. – Flower competition judging
3 p.m. – Breeding meat goat show
5 p.m. – Pride amusement carnival opens
7 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Steer and heifer weigh-in
7 p.m. – Beauty pageants (10 to 17 years old)
8 p.m. – Beef fitting contest
9 a.m. to 7 p.m. – Entries accepted into agronomy and horticulture competition
9 a.m. – Dairy cattle showmanship
9:30 a.m. – Junior and open dairy cattle show
4 p.m. – Hog and cloverbud showmanship, followed by junior market hog show, gilt show, junior showmanship and purebred show
6 p.m. – Breeding beef show
9 a.m. – Gates open (Senior citizens’ day – Free admission)
9 a.m. – Market lamb show and showmanship
10 a.m. – Judging of agronomy and horticulture competition
11 a.m. – 4-H/FCCLA Consumer Judging
6 p.m. – Cloverbud lamb show and showmanship, followed by breeding sheep show
7 p.m. – Cloverbud and beef showmanship, followed by heifer show and steer show
9:30 a.m. – 4-H livestock and dairy judging
10 a.m. to noon – Youth talent show rehearsal
5 p.m. – Youth talent show
6 p.m. – Goat costume contest
7 p.m. – Beautiful bovine contest
7 p.m. – Local bands start playing
8 p.m. – Old timers showmanship
1 p.m. Baby contest and beauty pageant (0 to 3 years old)
2 p.m. – Baby contest and beauty pageant (4 to 9 years old)
5 p.m. – Buyers dinner for livestock auction
6:30 p.m. – Junior livestock auction
7 a.m. to noon – Release of livestock animals
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Cleanup of all exhibit hall entries
