LAKE OUACHITA, Ark. (KFSM) – The Arkansas Department of Health has issued a fish consumption advisory for Lake Ouachita, due to high levels of mercury found in the lake’s fish.
The levels are high enough to cause a risk to human health, according to Dr. Nate Smith, director for the Arkansas Department of Health.
Those most at risk include pregnant women, small children, and those who eat fish from the lake on a regular basis.
However, officials stress the lake is still safe to swim in.
