ROGERS (KFSM) – A suspect is behind bars after police say he threatened to cut a man’s throat and castrate the victim.

Andres Lopez, 21, of Rogers, was arrested after police say he sent threatening text messages to a victim saying he’d do violent things to that person, police said.

The Springdale Police Department began investigating the case when the threats were sent in June, 2014. The victim received text messages from Lopez, who said he’d cut a man’s throat and also castrate him, according to officials.

Lopez event sent pictures of a fixed blade knife with a wooden handle to the victim, saying it would cut his head off, officials said.

Originally, officers were unable to locate Lopez, but on Wednesday (Aug. 13), he was arrested by a Benton County Deputy on an unrelated warrant, according to officials.

When asked about the threats, he was uncooperative with detectives and refused to speak them, officials said.

He was booked into the Washington County Detention Center and faces a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening, according to officials.

His first hearing is scheduled for Friday (Aug. 15), according to the jail log.
