LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) – Let Arkansas Decide, a group backing a ballot initiative to expand liquor sales in the Natural State, has submitted additional signatures to Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin, according to a news release.
Martin confirmed that his office had received an additional 41,492 signatures from Let Arkansas Decide on Friday (Aug. 15), the release states.
The Arkansas Secretary of State’s office now has 30 days to verify the signatures, according to the release.
Let Arkansas Decide is backing a ballot initiative aiming to enable all counties in the state to sell booze, whether they were previously wet or dry.
The group originally had 61,000 signatures verified by the Arkansas Secretary of State, but the initiative needed 78,133 to be put on the Nov. 4 ballot, officials said.
Let Arkansas Decide was given until Aug. 18 by 5 p.m. to collect an additional 17,133 signatures, and now they’ve submitted over 40,000, according to the release.
