SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – Authorities caught a prison inmate they said escaped from a work release program Friday night (Aug. 16) in Springdale.

Clayton Shatswell, 30, walked away around 8:50 p.m. from the location he was working at for the Arkansas Department of Correction, according to the prison agency.

He is serving a 10-year, 1-month sentence in a forgery case out of Benton County, according to the Department of Correction.

The Arkansas Department of Correction says the Benton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the catching of Shatswell.

He was found in a wooded area behind a house in Rogers.

The homeowner is said to have alerted law enforcement to suspicious activity near the home.

No information has been released on whether or not Shatswell will receive an additional sentence for his escape.
