LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) – The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral with people all across the country taking part, and now Gov. Mike Beebe has gotten in on the challenge.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is where people are dunked with icy water to raise awareness and money for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis research.
ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and the illness affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, causing them to degenerate to a point of total paralysis for the victim, eventually killing them, according to the ALS Association’s website.

Beebe didn’t challenge anyone else to take the challenge specifically, but he did encourage all Arkansans to support research for ALS.
