SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) - Plans are in the works to raise EMS fees in Sebastian County.
County Judge David Hudson said the annual fee could spike from $18 to around $65 dollars a year.
Hudson said it would impact nine cities in Sebastian County excluding Barling and Fort Smith.
Hudson said Sebastian County EMS operates on a 1.3 million dollar budget and the fee hasn’t gone up in 28 years.
The funding if approved would help maintain the budget as overall expenses go up over time.
Hudson said he will meet Monday (Aug. 25) with the Sebastian County quorum court to vote whether the fee increase will go on the Nov. 4 ballot.
According to Hudson the increase if approved would bring in an additional $350,000 annually.
