Suspect Captured in Van Buren After Foot Chase

CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) – A suspect, who led authorities on a foot chase in Van Buren Thursday morning (Aug. 21) is in custody, according to Detective Jonathan Wear with Van Buren Police.

Wear said the search for the suspect started after he ran from police during a routine traffic stop at 9th and Jefferson around 8:30 a.m.

Both Van Buren Police and Crawford County deputies are currently searching for the suspect.

Wear with Van Buren Police said it’s unclear at this time why the suspect ran from police when he was stopped.

The Van Buren Municipal Complex was temporarily on lockdown as authorities searched for the suspect, Wear said. However, the complex is back open.
