VAN BUREN (KFSM)-The Department of Labor recognized Arkansas Lighting Wednesday (Sept. 3) for putting in 500,000 man hours over the course of four years without a workplace accident.

CEO Bob Null said employees go through extensive training to stay safe. The company primarily makes lighting fixtures for the hotel industry.

“For this award today from the Dept. of Labor, for their safety award, to meet the milestone that they’ve met is remarkable, it’s remarkable for any company to be able to do something like this,” Null said.

Mayor Robert Freeman also spoke at the award ceremony among an intimate group.

“As much as anything, it’s making people aware of working safely and also to make sure that people are training in how to do their job in such a way that they will be safe,” Mayor Freeman said.

Null said 62 employees are on staff. They changed their name from Arkansas Lamp to Arkansas Lighting about two months ago.
