FORT SMITH (KFSM) - A consignment sale aimed at saving parents money for children's clothing and other needs began Thursday (Sept.4) at Kay Rodgers Expo Center in Fort Smith. Parents can find anything to clothes, books, movies, and toys for children.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the Growing Kids Sale according to director Faith Beeman. For the past couple of weeks, local families have brought gently used items from everything to clothes, toys, and even high chairs to be sold to families in the area. All the items that don't get sold, either go back to the consigner or they get donated to local charities such as, church closets or school systems.

For moms and dads, this is a great way for families to clean out their closets. " Local families sell their items and they price their own items and tag them and get them ready and then drop them off, said Beeman. "At the end of the sale, they will get a check for 70 percent of their earnings."

According to Beeman, this is the time of the year that gives families a chance to receive good deals. "People love the Growing Kids Sale because it allows them to come and get items that they need for their kids, said Beeman. "They are getting 75 percent off retail, so they can afford to get everything they need all in one shopping trip at a fraction of the cost."

The event will take place Thursday-Saturday (Sept. 4-6) from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. For shoppers who decide to wait to go to the sale on Saturday, all items will marked down 50 percent.
