FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The Arkansas Razorbacks kick off their first home game of the season Saturday (Sept. 5) in Fayetteville.

Students and fans gathered on campus for a pep rally before the big game.

“There is nothing better than Razorback football,” said Chris Darby, a student. “You eat, sleep, and breathe football, there`s nothing better than it.”

The pep rally was hosted in order to hype students and fans for the game.

“If this doesn`t get you excited for the game, I don`t know what will, honestly,” Darby said. “I`m so excited for [the game], I just can`t wait.”

Thousands packed the U of A campus for a pep rally.

On Saturday (Sept. 6), more than 72,000 will pack Razorback Stadium.

“It really helps get all of the students involved to get ready for the game,” said Chelsey Morrow, a student.

“It was electric,” said Cole Brothers, a student.

After a nine-month offseason, the pep rally was filled with plenty of football fans dancing, cheering, and calling the hogs.

“It is pretty special, and it will be a real cool experience,” Brothers said.

Some fans tell 5NEWS that the pep rally is vital to the 12th man element in a SEC Football game.

“It is really important that everyone puts in their full energy and gets pumped for this game,” said Blayne Cross, a student.

Meanwhile, others say that this pep rally is just part of being a Razorback.

“Just being able to experience this whole culture that comes with being a Razorback, it is pretty special,” Brothers said.

The game against Nicholls State starts Saturday (Sept. 6) at 3P.M. in Fayetteville.
