SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) - A man from Bloomer was crushed under a car and killed on Tuesday (Sept. 9), authorities say.
The man was working on his car when a jack became loose and the car fell, crushing the man, according to Lt. Phillip Pevehouse at the Sebastian County Sheriff's office.
"Any time you're doing anything, accidents can happen."
Authorities believe the death was instant, and said the man was found by a family member.
Neighbor Stephen Newton said he's aware of the dangers of working underneath a car.
"I used to work on cars and I know the danger of doing that. And it's really, really sad."
Lt. Pevehouse warned you can never be too careful.
"If you're going to work under a car, make sure it's a level spot. And make sure there is some way you can put a scotch in or put in blocks by your wheels," he said.
Authorities said the man was in his 30s. His name has not been released.
