FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Saturday's game could not have gone any better for the Hogs with a 73-7 win over Nicholls State. But, this weekend they'll have their hands full again as they renew an old rivalry down in Lubbock against Texas Tech.
"It's new for a lot of the guys on the team now," quarterback Brandon Allen said. "You know, I think we;re excited for the challenge, excited to go down and play them at their stadium. It's going to be a good environment, and I think we're up for the challenge and we're ready for it."
Texas Tech has struggled in their first two games squeaking by with wins over UTEP and Central Arkansas. But the Hogs say they are still doing all the prep they can for the Red Raiders.
"We're just going to prepare like we always do," running back Jonathan Williams said. "You know, a win is a win. They are 2-0, and we're 1-1, so their record is better than ours. We're trying to keep improving our record and just keep improving every day. It doesn't matter who we're playing week to week we want to get better."
It doesn't much better than nearly 700 yards on offense. But, Tech has already said they are planning for Arkansas' running game. That's not a worry though for Allen.
"I have a lot of confidence in our receivers, and our o-line upfront blocking. I think we'll be able to make some plays even if they single up our receivers, and even if they load the box, they'll have to try to stop our run game. We're still going to be running the ball no matter how many they put in there. It's up to us to block the right people," Allen said.
The Hogs are ready to continue their winning tradition against Tech.
