LEFLORE COUNTY (KFSM) – The Murry Spur Fire Department in LeFlore County was presented with an award from the Oklahoma Insurance Commission on Sept. 10, according to a news release.
The department received the award for improving its Insurance Services Office Public Protection Classification from a class nine to a class four, the release states.
The rating has an impact on many homeowner’s insurance rates, according to the release.
One of the factors in determining a station’s rating is the availability of water, the release states. The station was able to lower its rating by strategically placing fire hydrants.
