SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) – A Siloam Springs teenager was hospitalized Saturday night after he was accidentally shot in the head, according to the Siloam Springs Police Department.

City police and medical crews responded at 8:13 p.m. to a home on South Seward Street, where police said the 16-year-old boy was shot after handling a pistol upstairs with his 15-year-old friend.

The victim was treated at Washington Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, police said.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, according to Siloam Springs police.

A web page was created Monday on an online fundraising site to raise money for the shooting victim. The GoFundMe.com page states the teenager was shot with a .45-caliber pistol. The page raised $50, as of Monday night.

A post on a family member’s Facebook page states the boy underwent surgery, and an artery is damaged but not leaking. The teen is now on an aspirin regimen, the post states.
