Escaped LeFlore County Inmate Recaptured

LEFLORE COUNTY (KFSM) – An escaped LeFlore County inmate was recaptured by authorities after being missing for a few hours on Thursday (Sept. 18), authorities say.

Deputies with the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office started looking for an escapee from the Oklahoma Department of Correction Thursday afternoon, but the search ended after 3:30 p.m. when the inmate was recaptured.

Caleb A. Bates, 24, walked away from the outside work crew he was assigned to in the town of Howe, according to authorities. He was only away for a few hours before he was recaptured.

The LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office was first alerted on Thursday at approximately 12:30 p.m. of the escape, authorities said.
