SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – Prior to this season, every football game Har-Ber High School had ever played had been away from their school.

Friday (Sept. 19) that all changed with the grand opening of Har-Ber Stadium.

"Every great high school deserves a home-field," said Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse.

Since the school opened one decade ago, all ‘home’ games had been played at Springdale High School.

"It's kind of surreal right now,” said Dr. Danny Brackett, principal at Har-Ber. “Every game we have played has been on the road. Tonight they get to be at home."

The new facility has a screen on the scoreboard, and the student-ran TV station can broadcast right from the press box.

“I don't think we could have asked for a better night," Brackett said. "There is lot of pride, a lot of excitement.”

To help open the new stadium, members of the original staff were honored.

Springdale Mayor Sprouse helped do the coin toss.

"This is great for the Har-Ber students and fans,” Sprouse said.

5,000 fans filled the stadium for its grand opening.

City officials say the new stadium is a centerpiece to the city.

"We have a showcase now, and we are very proud of it," Sprouse said.
