FORT SMITH (KFSM) - A woman is behind bars after pulling a knife on a security guard at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith early Thursday morning (Sept. 25).

Tammie Stansbury is being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center, facing an aggravated assault charge, according to jail officials.

Authorities said the security guard called for back up around 2:15 a.m., after Stansbury began acting up near the hospital's front desk.

"According to security, she was being loud and acting irate, so they confronted her to see if she was okay," Cpl. Justin Deleon, with Fort Smith Police, said. "That's when she brandished her pocket knife and threatened to kill the security officer."

Stansbury then took off running down Towson Avenue, according to authorities.

Once officers arrived on scene, they said they found Stansbury hiding in a hole near the intersection of J and Towson. Her pocket knife was found on the ground nearby, Deleon said.

"We don't know a lot about the suspect at this time," Deleon said. "She was a little bit incoherent. We don't suspect that she was intoxicated, but she may of been under some sort of illusion at the time."

As for the security guard, authorities said he was shaken up by the incident, but was not hurt.
