FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Bikes, Blues & BBQ draws thousands of people to Arkansas every year.

Keeping all of those motorcyclists stuffed with food is a big task.

That’s where the annual barbecue competition comes to play.

Barbecue groups from around the country are spending their weekend at the Washington County Fair Grounds.

“'We are representing about 6 states in this year’s event,” said Ron Autry, Event Chairman for the barbecue cook-off.

Professional judges will be on hand this weekend to pick the best group.

“[Judges grade based off of] appearance, taste, texture, and presentation,” Autry said.

The winner of the official competition could win up to $3,000.

SAMS Club sponsors the event.

“'They donate anywhere from $3,000 to $4,000 of chicken thighs,” Autry said.

Many are adding their special touch to try and woo the crowd.

“I’m adding some apple wood for smoked flavoring for the chicken,” said Wayne Tabor, a cook with Affordable Bail Bonds. “This piece of equipment is specially made for cooking chicken.”

Most cooks were not willing to give away the specifics to their meals.

“If I tell you anymore, [another chef] will shoot me over here,” Tabor said.
