MOUNTAINBURG (KFSM) – The Mountainburg School District went into lockdown on Wednesday morning (Oct. 1) after police said a person was seen waving a gun from their vehicle window near the middle school, according to Dennis Copeland, Mountainburg superintendent.
The Mountainburg Middle School received a call from the Mountainburg Police Department at 10:05 a.m. telling them to go into lockdown due to the person seen near the school waving a gun from their vehicle window, Copeland said.
The school district immediately went into lockdown following the phone call with police, according to Copeland.
One hour later, police called the school district again and said they could lift the lockdown, Copeland said.
It is not known at this time if police have arrested anyone involved in the incident.
