ARKOMA (KFSM) – Crews worked for over two hours fighting flames that engulfed a house and three cars in Arkoma.
The Arkoma Fire Department, Pocola Fire Department, and OG&E Electric all were on scene. Crews said they were worried about the flames reaching power lines and the electricity inside the house.
The fire was located on Sherman Avenue in Arkoma.
The house is owned by Bryan Wallen. He and his family of 5 were not home at the time of the fire. They were reported to be visiting neighbors down the street from their residence.
The house is considered a total loss along with three vehicles. Authorities say the fourth vehicle sustained a lot of damage, however it may be salvageable. The family also lost four pets in the fire, three Weiner dogs and a Chihuahua.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Arkoma Fire Chief Jessie Little said “It may have been caused by the air conditioner.”
