OKLAHOMA (KFSM) - Although The Supreme Court on Monday (Oct. 6) refused to hear appeals from five states (including Oklahoma), making gay marriage legal in those states, court clerks in LeFlore and Sequoyah counties are waiting before they issue gay marriage licenses, officials say.

Officials in both counties have said they will wait for an opinion from their legal council before they make a final decision on whether they will start issuing gay marriage licenses.

On Monday, The Supreme Court declined to take up appeals from five states where gay marriage bans had been overturned by judges. This essentially paved the way for gay couples to begin getting marriage licenses in those states, according to officials.
